Selangor Water Impasse

Selangor Water Woes
More than 72% of contracts, worth RM600 million, was awarded through direct negotiation, not open tender process. Between 2005 – 2007, RM325 million could not be accounted for between Syabas public accounts and the record of contracts. RM51.2 million, or 120% more than the RM 23.2 million approved by Jabatan Kawalselia Air Selangor (JKAS), was spent on Syabas office renovation.

APCO Affair

The APCO affair — The Malaysian Insider
APRIL 8 — International public relations consultancy APCO could not have ever imagined the uproar generated this year over their appointment by the Malaysian government.
They have been linked to the 1 Malaysia concept espoused by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak by Pakatan Rakyat parties who have called the slogan hollow and accused APCO of recycling the One Israel campaign.
What is clear thus far is the deafening silence on the part of the client, the Malaysian government.

What the Malaysian think of the Malaysian Police

Police come under the spotlight — Martin Jalleh; The Malaysian Insider
MARCH 12 — 2009 was a year when the police was unfortunately perceived to be playing politics and pandering to the wishes of their political (pay) masters rather than protecting the people. About 76 per cent of the respondents in a Home Ministry online survey (August 2009) said that they feel angry each time they see a police officer!

In an earlier Home Ministry online survey (July 2009), 97 per cent of 10,060 respondents felt unsafe due to the high crime rate; 95 per cent of 9,319 respondents felt the safety of the people was not guaranteed; and 94 per cent of 9,261 respondents felt the government had not done its best to ensure the safety of the people.
